I am a little behind this year –I usually have all of my Christmas decorations up on December 1st. We are in the process of finishing our basement so alot of my decorations and such are not easily accessible so I have been pulling it out little by little! I will tackle the rest of it this weekend when my husband will be home to help me out 🙂
So I started thinking about what else I needed to do to get ready…
I am very excited about this Christmas as my oldest son is now 3 years old–so he is really excited. This is the first year where he “gets it” –he is excitedly anticipating us putting up the tree, Santa Claus, and PRESENTS!! I was able to pull out my awesome advent calendar (that I scored on clearance last year from Pottery Barn) so everyday he checks to see “how many days are left” 🙂 I also pulled out the Elf on the Shelf. If you have never heard of this you should check it out HERE. This little elf watches the boys and reports back to Santa every night so they know they have to stay on the nice list 🙂 Every morning the boys look all over the house to find where the elf has re-appeared.
I just got finished ordering the boys their letter from Santa. Santa has sent them a letter every year…and I know this year Jake will be thrilled as he loves to get mail!! I am not sure if they will care later on but they will have all the letters in their memory boxes. I bought our family ornament yesterday at Personalization Mall . I can’t wait for it to get here–it is the pic…isn’t is cute. I have to admit I love personalized things–in 20 years I will look back at them all and just smile!! I already bought the boys their annual ornament–I try to find ones to match their current interests…so the Disney store was the place to go this year 🙂
I also set up their video message from Santa. If you have not seen it you have to check it out–it is totally cool!! Now I just need to finish finding a few gifts, start wrapping and sit back and enjoy watching my kids’ excitement about the holiday!
We have lots of other little traditions and every year it seems I add a new one. What do you guys do to celebrate the season. I’d love to hear some of your traditions– new or old 🙂
