Win A Copy Of The Spooky Scavenger Hunt
October 16, 2011
Halloween is big fun at my house. On the first day of October, I bring out all of my decorations and Halloween accessories as well as our Halloween books!
My oldest, Jake, is 5 and I have been buying different Halloween books since he was born. So, we have quite a collection. When I was given the opportunity to check out “The Spooky Scavenger Hunt” book which is part of Jim Henson’s Dinosaur Train series I was thrilled. You see both of my boys love the series Dinosaur Train.
Both of my boys loved the book and we have already read it five times. It is a perfect book for young kids who want a little spooky Halloween fun! Jake is starting to read and loved that he was able to follow along and read many of the words. This is definitely a book that my boys will continue to enjoy for many Halloweens to come!
If you have a Dinosaur Train fan at your house. You can check out the new episode – Dinosaur Train Haunted Roundhouse/Big Pond Pumpkin Patch on 10/20 on PBS Kids (check local listings). If you miss the debut, the show will repeats on 10/24, 10/28, 10/30, and 10/31. I have already marked my calendar to set my DVR.
In Haunted Roundhouse, dad takes the kids on a special Night Train to Troodon Town, where the Troodons have decoratedtheir Roundhouse into a “haunted house” for a spooky party. The kids end up meeting a strange new nocturnal creature – a mammal named Vlad Volaticotherium, who was hiding in the roundhouse trying to get some sleep. And in Big Pond Pumpkin Patch, the Pteranodon family learns more about the customs of their neighbors, the Lambeosaurus family, when they are invited for the first time to accompany them to the Big Pond to celebrate “Gourd Day” – a kind of Mesozoic Halloween. The kids see their first pumpkins, and Larry Lambeosaurus even shows our family how to hollow them out and carve faces into them.
If you have a kiddo who plans on dressing up as a character from Dinosaur Train, be sure and check out the sew and no sew options for a super cute Buddy costume.

My three-year-old is really getting into Halloween this year (he’s dressing up as a fireman). We’ve been reading any Halloween or fall-related books we can find, including several I just purchased from the book club at his preschool.
Maybe 4 times – I don’t have the attention span they do so I will try to mix it up
I have a 4 yr old who loves books and dinosaur train he would be so thrilled with this book
I would read it to him and my 3 yr old for sure twice a day !!! thanks for the opportunity
My four year old son and two year old daughter love dinosaur train. In fact his birthday was today and he picked out two new characters from the store. My kids love to read and we try to read every night but they pick the books. Of course new books are picked first so every night til Halloween, at least 15 days!
Got my little guy two halloween books earlier in the month and I must have read him both books at least once a day!

I have been following both for a while.
My daughter is 10 months old. We read at least three times a day, before both of her naps and before bed time. She has three Halloween books and every day since October 1st we have been reading at least one. I love reading to her and she loves reading as well. And we love Dinosaur Train!
My daughter loves to read and loves to have us read to her (and she is only 16 months old), so we will probably read halloween books several times a day. I know she would love this book as she LOVES Dinosaur Train…she calls them dogs!
Probably every day for a couple of weeks.

It really adds up when you read them 3-5 times a day…..
Oh my 3 year would so love this! He absolutely loves Dinosaur Train and has requested that as his Birthday Theme (in Feb). I only have 1 halloween book and we have read it at least 10 times in last month (C.G.)
I also follow on Facebook.
I will probably read it about 10 times between now and Halloween.
I follow you on fb!
We will read it honestly prob every night till November 1st!
“Good Night Goon” was atleast once a day for September and the begining of October. Now it is only once in a while. “Halloween Scratch and Sniff” is every night to each child seperatly (i really don’t think there is much left to sniff.” Every night we have a rotation of library books that are halloween related “Room on a Broom,” “Too Many Pumpkins,” “If your a monster and you know it…”
I would say between all halloweenish books and both kids we are looking at well over 100 this month (if they let me off easy.) Lets just say that I read, “Go Away Big Green Monster several times today alone.
If I win this book the pages will be well loved by the time halloween rolls around again.
