Target In The News
August 25, 2010
Have you noticed lately that Target registers often do not give you full credit for your coupon? Lots of people are having issues and maybe there will be a change coming soon! You have to go check out THIS article.
I thought it was a little comical that Target stated that they “didn’t know about the coupon problem until WCCO called them” Hmmm…so all those calls and complaints from consumers never gave them an indication??? Interesting!!
Thanks to the fabulous Kerry at Totally Target

I went to Target today in Centerville, Ga and was surprised that when I got the Tide Travel Size at .97….that it did NOT reduce my $1 off coupon as usually!! I was very happy and hope this is a change that will stay.
I had problems at the Cartersville Target too! Not only did they ring up my $2 for Pampers wipes at $1 but they wouldn’t let me use a Target Q and a Manufacturer’s Q for the same item. They said store policy changed. According to the corporate office, it hasn’t.
Ha…I totally misread your city and your comment! I thought you had had a negative experience as well. Oops!
You know, the same thing happened to me, except some of the coupons I had were never even taken off the bill! I happened to be keeping a running total in my head as I shopped and thought that the end total wasn’t right, but I didn’t say anything. Then I went over the receipt after I got to my car and realized that a full $3.25 worth of coupons had not been taken off the total! I went back in, was shunted to customer service, who was polite as could be, and took care of everything, but seeing that article really got me angry. Just think of how many $$$ they are making by doing that. And probably a full half of those who get shafted don’t even realize it until it’s too late to do anything about it. Grrrr….
that’s if they even realize it at all! that really makes me angry that target was doing that. and you can’t say you had no idea, i don’t believe it. anyone else notice that there always seems to be negitive stuff coming out about target?
So how are they going to pay all of the couponers they have stolen from??? I will take $50 in the form of a Target Gift Card, please, Ms. Glass!
Yes, I had the same problems with not receiving the face value of coupons. I didn’t notice it, until I got in the car, & realized it was only 0.12 cents,I did not get off my total. I didn’t want to go back in for 0.12 cents! During another trip at the target at Columbus, Georgia I didn’t get the full face value of a coupon, & they were charging me for the trial size item. I told the cashier about it, & they brought customer service over to correct the problem, after some waiting & aggravation! As others have posted, how are they going to give back our money? I have receipts that has coupons taken off the original price, but it doesn’t say the amount of the orginal coupon. If you go back to the store & try to get your money back from the coupons, I can see that would be a problem, & target employees might not give you the balance of the coupons.
I had several coupons not get credited properly that ended in me paying $6 more than I should have. Customer service was not helpful and nearly accused me of lying. Hmmm….I bet a class action lawsuit would change the way they credit coupons….
WOW – this doesn’t sound so nice of Target – I rarely shop there since it is a great distance, but am going today to that side of town and was planning on shopping there.
Well, MY Target knew about it in May or early June when I did a John Frieda deal that they shorted me $18 on. I had 6 $3 coupons and I had to go back to the store and they weren’t nice about it. The head cashier pulled all the coupons I used out of the cashier’s drawer (all 43 of them) and checked them off one by one and kept telling me it was right, the register can’t be wrong. When she finished nearly 30 minutes later, she realized I was right, their register was wrong and I got my $18 in cash.
She then proceeded to tell me it was my job to stand there and make sure that everything was ringing up correctly before I left the store next time. I didn’t stop going, I just make sure I watch them like a hawk when they’re ringing up my coupons now.
